About me

Hi, my name is Rodrigo Rego, and I’m a designer from Rio de Janeiro. Since 2006, I work with graphic and webdesign. In 2008, I launched Hungry Mind, a studio primarily devoted to design interfaces.
Maybe I can help you.

Why work with me?

Simplicity. I work mostly alone, so our business relations will be pretty simple. As there are no filters between us, I will probably understand your ideas faster, and we won't get lost into endless meetings. The project gets then much more agile and affordable.

Versatility. Even thought I'm focused at interfaces, I can also handle branding, print, advertising and editorial projects. I had a generalist education, with past experiences in almost all fields of graphic design. You won’t find many designers with such broad skills.

Perfeccionism. Your approval is not enough for me to consider the job done. I always submit my work to a much more severe judgement: mine. I read a lot, always look for references and study all the time to make sure my quality standards never drop.

Where to find me

Flags, boardgames, distant countries and a mix of subjects are distilled weekly at my personal blog.

Résumé

I had an extensive education, split between 5 years at Esdi, considered the best design school in Latin America, and one year at Fachhoschule Potsdam, in Germany. After graduating, I spent two years working as webdesigner at agencies, and then launched my studio.

General curriculum

Education. I graduated at the beginning of 2007 at ESDI, after presenting the project Flag Carnival, street identity and signage for Rio’s carnival parades.

Interchange. At Fachhoschule Potsdam, in 2005, near Berlin, where I designed some of my best academic projects. I also took part in an internship at Ecke Design Berlin.

College Admission. In 2000, I ranked first place at the admission tests for two design schools in Rio, UERJ and UFRJ.

Skills. Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, XHTML, CSS, and various illustration techniques. Also some PHP and Actionscript.

Prizes. The TND Golf Caddy, designed with my friend Ricardo Bacellar during an internship at Ecke Design Berlin, was granted an If Product Design Award.

Languages. I speak fluent English, and decent French, German and Spanish. And, of course, Portuguese.

Interative design

Studio Experience. Since 2008, I’m working independently at Hungry Mind, focusing on interface design.

Some works: Invisible Braces, Brava Special Projects

Agency Experience. I worked as webdesigner between 2007 and 2008 at Packaging Brands, an agency renowned for its long experience with packaging design and a refreshing approach at branding techniques. There, I learned the importance of a strong branding for websites.

Some works: Ancar Ivanhoe, Flex Airlines

Internships. In 2006, I was a web and Flash designer intern at Plano B Design, a small agency with high-quality work.

In 2004, I was an intern at designer Marcos Martins’ office, ex-teacher at Esdi, working with clients like Petrobras.

Graphic Design

Internships.Everywhere I worked, I took part in graphic design projects. But on the following places I was most focused on this field:

In 2003, I was an intern at Museu da República (Republic’s Museum), designing exhibitions and its graphic material. This was my first internship, and maybe the richest.

In 2004, I was an intern at designer Patrícia Chueke's office, designing videos and brand identities.

In 2005 and the beginning of 2006, I was an intern at Ecke Design Berlin, where besides designing the TND Gold Caddy, I worked developping brand identities and exhibitions.

Examples. Some examples of projects developped in various fields of graphic design:

Branding: Hiroce Ortodontia
Packaging: D’Gutz
Promotional: Fiorino Do Bem
Editorial: Revista Gold
